Entering Matches into the System

A match can be entered into the system at any time after it has been played. The ladder system automatically recalulates player point changes of matches previously entered into the system, if required. This is necessary in cases where the match being entered is previous to that of other matches already in the system.

How Player Points are Calculated

All players in any ladder are given an initial point amount of 1,000 for each ladder they participate in. Player points are added and subtracted depending on the outcome of a match. The amount of points awarded or penalized to a player is dependent on several factors listed below...

1)   The difference in points between the players at the time the match is played.
2)   Whether the higher ranked player wins or is upset by the lower ranked player.
3)   The type of match being played.
4)   Players also earn points for participating.

The table below summarizes how these factors determine a player's point change as a result of entering a match in the ladder system.

For doubles matches, the team players' average points at the time of a match are used for the calculations. Points are awarded to and removed from each of the team members individually. This is important because it allows players in the doubles ladders to play with many different partners while still maintaining an individual doubles rank. See below for examples of player point calculations for both singles and doubles matches.
